Learn the Truth about Whitening

There are lots of ways to teeth whitening, and some dentist can explain it in a confusing way. Here are some answers to the questions you might have:

Is it safe?

Yes. Our experience and studies have proved that teeth whitening with carbamide or hydrogen peroxide is safe for your teeth and gums, as long as it is under the supervision of a dental professional.

Any side effects?

The most common side effect of teeth whitening is the sensitivity of your teeth and gums. We’ll let you know if you’re likely to feel any. The key is using the right concentration of whitening formula and desensitising agents. Philips Zoom at-home whitening products have two mild desensitising agents, Potassium Nitrate and Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP) to minimise tooth sensitivity.

What’s the difference between the usual whiteners and Philips Zoom?

Everyone has different teeth and sensitivity. Our Phillips Zoom whitening process is tailored to suit you. As your Dentist, Dr Canceri will adjust the whitener for the right intensity and use customised dental trays to make the wait comfortable.

The usual over-the-counter teeth whiteners aren’t as comfortable, and some of them simply don’t work.

How long will my teeth stay white?

It depends on how much coffee and/or soft drinks you drink, cigarettes you smoke and there’s ageing. Your teeth will probably become discoloured again.

You may have to undergo some maintenance whitening to brighten your smile again. Our Philips Zoom at-home teeth whitening products include ACP, which helps reduce staining.

Why do teeth lose their whiteness?

There are many causes. The most common include foods and drinks like berries, coffee, tea and red wine which all have strong colouring. Some medications, aging, smoking and trauma can also discolour your teeth.

How long does it take?

As your Dentist, Dr Caneri We can have your teeth whitened shining in just one appointment. If you prefer Zoom at-home, follow the instructions and we think you will have the same great results in one to two weeks. It will depend on the concentration of formulation and wear time you select.

How does Zoom In-Office work?

Zoom Teeth Whitening gel's active ingredient is Hydrogen Peroxide. It allows oxygen to enter the enamel, safely removing any stains without affecting the structural integrity of your teeth. It’s painless, usually doesn’t irritate and is so gentle, many patients fall asleep during treatment.

You might feel your feel teeth sensitive to cold during the procedure, but this is temporary. These symptoms usually disappear between one to three days after treatment.

This is one of the quickest cosmetic dental procedures. The treatment begins with Dr Canceri’s unique preparation which achieves the best result in teeth whitening procedure. This is then followed by the Zoom treatment.

The Zoom In-Office System is ideal for anyone who wants quick results or is too busy for follow-up appointments.

How do I know if Zoom Teeth Whitening is right for me?

Zoom Teeth Whitening is ideal if you:

  • have stained or discoloured teeth
  • have a very busy schedule
  • have a special event or occasion to smile at, and
  • aren’t happy with your smile.
